VAY to the CAY T-I-O-N

Law school = done
MA bar exam = done
...and for the next 3 weeks, I am free to do whatever the heck I please (within reason of course)!!

Seeing that this is a blog about travel, it would only make sense for me to do as much. My original plan was to be a conscientious world citizen and participate in a volunteer vacation of some sort, but that's not going to happen... at least not now. (Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't support volunteering, etc. I'm just not in the mental place I need to be to truly enjoy it and thus provide a meaningful contribution.)

Instead, I'm teaming up with Intrepid Travel again; this time to travel through Central America. (I used them last year for my trip through Cambodia, via Bangkok & Ho Chi Minh City.) Our trip will begin in Guatemala where we'll explore Antigua, Flores and the Tikal ruins. Leaving Guatemala, we will cross the border into Belize and spend a few days first in San Ignacio then on Caye Caulker, before crossing into Mexico (our third and final country), where we'll visit the Tulum ruins and relax at the resort town of Playa del Carmen, near Cancun. The trip will span two weeks and I fully anticipate being wonderfully brown and well rested when it's all said and done!

But wait, there's more! Those two weeks are only a part of my fantastically relaxing vacation before I return to Boston and the real world of work and responsibility. After I leave Mexico, instead of heading to the east coast, I'll be heading up to the SF bay area to spend the week with a certain someone. Although, I don't imagine the weather will be all that spectacular, I'm really looking forward to the company and, of course, the obligatory day trip to wine country. Because he will actually have responsibilities during some of the days, I'm going to use the opportunity to truly play tourist and explore the city/environs more than I have in my past few trips... and if I'm feeling talkative, I may even blog about it.

Ok, that's all for now. I have a long list of errands beckoning me and I can only put them off for so long.
